Jos de Putter

Documentary filmmaker Jos de Putter (1959) studied Politicology and Literary Science in Leiden. His work was awarded with i.a. the Joris Ivens Award (IDFA), the Jordaanprijs (a prize awarded by the city of Amsterdam), and he was admitted to the Canon of Dutch Film. He made 10 internationally lauded long documentaries and dozens of television documentaries. From 2007 to 2013, Jos was the editor-in-chief of VPRO Backlight. De Putter’s Deep Focus Web Docs is the production agency for a variety of successful short documentaries, amongst which Issa Touma’s 9 Days From My Window in Aleppo.
