Documentary projects

Laura Boushnak (KW, b. 1976) is a Kuwaiti-born Palestinian photographer. Since 2008 she has focused primarily on women, literacy and education reform in the Arab world. Her documentary project I Read I Write explores the role of literacy in improving the lives of Arab women, and the barriers they face in accessing education. Her photographs have been published in the New York Times, The Guardian, National Geographic and Le Monde, and have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. Boushnak co-founded Rawiya collective, the first all-female photo collective in the Middle East.
